“PROGRESSO E LAVORO” s.c.r.l. was founded in 1974, taking on the repairing railway wagons activity which SIDELM limited company had in the meantime ceased. The newborn company felt the need to build its own modern, properly laid-out plant, and therefore set one in the industrial area of Brindisi, starting its activity in 1986.
The plant is located close to the commercial port, it is served by a railway connection, it is also connected to Brindisi’s central railway station, and spreads out on a 40,000 square meters area. Since 1986 there have been constant improvements to systematically expand, organize and improve the industrial processes.
Currently the company develops its business on 8,000 square meters of sheds, warehouses, and offices and on 25,000 square meters of large squares well equipped for processing, all of them also equipped with railway tracks.
Until the mid-1990s, activities were concentrated on freight wagons maintenance, then the activities were expanded to passenger transport wagons. From that date on, PROGRESSO E LAVORO has extended its maintenance and revamping activities on passengers’ transport wagons acquiring several orders, with many more customers other than Trenitalia.
